Extended visit (8-9 hrs duration): We first deliver you to Delphi archaeological site and then to the monastery of Osios Loukas.This is an excellent combination of Ancient and Byzantine Greek history. 3. Delphi The Navel of the Earth according the Ancient Greeks.
On this spot of the earth the two eagles left by Zeus met. The name Delphi comes from dolphins... The oracle of Delphi wes revered throughout the ancient Mediterranean world,it was consulted by Kings from other countries. Everyone had acces to the prophecy as long as they followed the procedure,it didn't matter if you were the a King or a mere mortal. This area was a spiritual point for all Greeks, it included many sanctuaries and the most important oracle in all of ancient Greece.The energy of the place is sure to captivate you. Pythia, the high priestess, carried the divine advice of god Apollo to mortals who seek a prophecy. The name Pythia comes from the python snake... Walking distance from the archaeological site, you can visit the Delphi traditional town,there you can enjoy your meal in traditional restaurants with a wonderful view or a snack walking through the beautiful alleys. |
Delphi & Hosios LoukasThe monastery of Osios Loukas is one of the most impressive monuments in the Mediterranean Sea, is built on the site of an ancient temple dedicated to the worship of the goddess Dimitra Stiritida,is dedicated to a hermit who was born, lived and die there at the 10th century. (Οsios Loukas Stiriotis).
The main monastery church is dedicated to the Virgin Mary was the only one built in mainland Greece in the 10th century. The main ‘katholikon’, dedicated to Οsios Loukas, also has an octagonal architectural design. Byzantine art is the only form of European art that began with the end of antiquity and reached its conclusion with the Renaissance, connecting the ancient world with the recent history. The unique golden fresco,the sublime mosaic ornamentation, the bright marble and the golden chandeliers they will make your visit enjoyable and you will get a grat taste of the Byzantine period. |
Delphi & Hosios Loukas & Galaxidi
Τhis small traditional village on the sea is about an hour away from the archaeological site of Delphi.
On the right side of the port, visit the hill with the green area up of the Stinger beach and enjoy the panorama. Through the five traditional squares, you will get to the highest point in town to visit the church of Agios Nikolaos with the carved images, and the two bell towers. Beautiful traditional manor houses and narrow streets invite you for a relaxing stroll. Colourful facades, marble arches around the gates, yards with flowers,stone made balconies with figureheads.The Folk Art Museum, the Girls’ School, are some of the most beautiful old era buildings.There are also ancient monuments in the park like the tomb of king Locros and the walls of ancient Oianthi. When Carnival period comes, the ancient Dionysian festivals they come alive again and people pelting one another with coloured flour!! One of the best spots of Galaxidi, is the church of Agia Paraskevi with the sun clock in its yard and the zodiac circle drawn on its floor made at 1911. |

I and my Partners, we are not professional guides.According to the Greek legislation the driver not allowed to do guided tour through the archaeological sites.If would like tour with a professional guide please inform us.We will take care of the services of professional tour guide in accordance with Greek legislation.The professional guide has extra cost.If you wish,the driver to accompany you within the archaeological sites for photography by agreement.
